Riverdale, NY - With the cancellation of spring sports for the 2020 campaign, Manhattan Athletics has changed its ATAX Student-Athletes of the Week segment to an ATAX Senior Spotlight. Moving forward, seniors from all of Manhattan's spring sports will be featured three times a week.
Today we shine the spotlight on women's lacrosse's
Caileigh Lampersberger (Yorktown Heights, NY / Yorktown) and golfer
Preston Shortell (Oxford, CT / Holy Cross).
Lampersberger was one of the top defenders in the MAAC this past season, ranking third in the league and 24th nationally with 1.86 forced turnovers per game. Last season, she was a key member of a defense that paced the MAAC in ground balls (21.35/GM) and Goals Against Average (9.10).
"Caileigh is one of the most intelligent athletes I have ever coached, is a true leader and in any challenging situation would look to find a solution," said Head Coach
Jenna Dingler. "She brought positive energy to practice every day and truly enjoyed being out on the field with the opportunity to play this game."
Shortell registered a 75.4 average while pacing the squad twice this past season. He won the MET Intercollegiate (10/28) Championship with a Manhattan season-best 69 (-1), and was the top Jasper finisher at the Bucknell Invitational.
"Having been a first year coach, I was lucky to have Preston on my team," said Head Coach
Phil Wildermuth. "He will be successful with anything he decides to do with his life."
