Riverdale, NY - With the cancellation of spring sports for the 2020 campaign, Manhattan Athletics has changed its ATAX Student-Athletes of the Week segment to an ATAX Senior Spotlight. Moving forward, seniors from all of Manhattan's spring sports will be featured three times a week.
Today we shine the spotlight on rowing's
Allison Eichhorn (Moorestown, NJ / Moorsetown) and men's track and field's
Timothy Iannuzzo (East Brunswick, NJ / St. Joseph).
Eichhorn was a member of the Second Varsity 8+ team that placed sixth at last year's MAAC Championship, and was member of the second varsity 8+ that earned MAAC Boat of the Week honors following a sweep of Iona.
"Allison always found another gear on race day," said head coach
Alex Canale. "She has incredible control of her position in the boat and power through the water. Her experience will be missed, as Allison sat in the six seat of the 2V8+."
As a javelin thrower, Iannuzzo was unable to see competition during the 2019-20 track and field season due to the cancellation of outdoors. However, he earned a top 10 finish (ninth) in the event at the 2019 MAAC Outdoor Track and Field Championships with a 51.31 meter throw. Earlier that year he went even further, reaching 56.86 meters at the Metropolitan Outdoor Championships and finishing fourth overall.
"Tim's commitment and dedication to both his event and to his academics have been outstanding to witness," said Assistant Coach
Patrick McGrath. "He's been a tremendous asset to this program over the last four years."
