Riverdale, NY - Emily LaPointe (Staten Island, NY / Staten Island) and
Pauly Paulicap (Elmont, NY / Harcum College) have been voted the ATAX Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, January 20 through Sunday, January 26.
LaPointe led the Jaspers with 14.5 points per game for women's basketball last week, shooting more than 57 percent from the field and over 45 percent from three. Against Fairfield on January 23, she had a team-high 17 points, shooting 60 percent from three, and 63.6 percent from the floor. In a 54-32 win over Iona on January 25, LaPointe had a team-high 12 points, along with five rebounds, three steals, two assists and a block. These performances earned her MAAC Rookie of the Week honors for the fifth time this season.
Paulicap averaged 12.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and 3.0 blocks per game for Manhattan men's basketball last week. He recorded his second double-double of the year and the eighth of his career with 18 points and 11 rebounds against Rider on January 26, while also blocking a season-high five shots. Paulicap opened the week with seven points, six rebounds and a rejection at Marist on January 22.
