Riverdale, NY - Elijah Buchanan (Bronx, NY / Mount St. Michael / Woodstock Academy (CT)) and
Julie Høier (Aabyhoej, Denmark / Marselisborg Gymnasium) have been voted ATAX Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, January 13 through Sunday, January 19.
Buchanan averaged 14 points and five rebounds per game while leading Manhattan's men's basketball team to a 1-1 week. He shot 50 percent from the floor, including 57.1 percent (4-of-7) from long range, to help fuel the Jasper offense. Buchanan began the week with 12 points and four assists in a win over Quinnipiac, before adding 16 points and a career-best matching eight rebounds against Monmouth.
Høier averaged 13.5 points and 8.5 rebounds over two women's basketball games this week. Against Marist on January 18, she nabbed her second double-double of the season, with a season-high 14 points and a game-high (tied) 10 boards. In the Jaspers' 30-point win at Siena on January 16, Høier scored 13 points for Manhattan, and added a game-high seven rebounds.
