Manhattan To Host XC Invitational Expo

Riverdale, NY - This year, the 47th annual Manhattan College Cross Country Invitational will open with an expo event on Friday, October 11, the day before the meet. This opening exhibition, which will be held on campus in Kelly Commons, will include a pre-meet packet pick-up, a panel discussion with city-area collegiate coaches, a campus tour and a pre-race dinner.

Festivities will informally begin Friday morning as the Jaspers take on the 2019 Metropolitan Cross Country Championships in Van Cortlandt Park. The meet, which annually features the region's top runners, will begin at 11:00 a.m.

Teams and coaches will then be able to pick up their race packets starting at 3:00 p.m. outside the Manhattan bookstore. Attendees will also at this time be treated to a tour of campus highlighting Manhattan College fun facts (tours of campus will be conducted during the invitational on Saturday, as well). 

At 4:00 p.m., Manhattan will host a panel discussion on "Running Successfully at the Collegiate Level: Tips, Suggestions and Advice," moderated by Kevin Monaghan '77, the senior vice president and managing director of digital media for NBC Sports. Track coaches from Manhattan, Iona, Fordham, St. Francis Brooklyn and NYU are confirmed to participate. 

At 5:00 p.m., the College will hold a pre-race "Taste of the Bronx" dinner in the great room of Kelly Commons, featuring a keynote speaker. 

The entry fee for the Manhattan College Cross Country Invitational provides access to all the expo activities. Those planning to attend are asked to register HERE.

Early-bird registration for the meet, which is expected to draw more than 8,000 runners, is still open through August 31. Runners and coaches can register now to save $5 off the regular registration price of $55.
