Riverdale, NY - Senior Lauren Pitney (Ansonia, CT / St. Joseph's) from the softball team and classmate Joe DiTorrice (Montgomery, NJ / Montgomery) from the baseball team are the ATAX Student-Athletes of the Week for the period of Monday, March 25 to Monday, April 1.
Pitney collected her 100th career RBI on a massive two-run homer in game one of the Jaspers' doubleheader sweep of Morgan State. For the day, she recorded a total of six RBI, after batting .600 with two RBI in Manhattan's MAAC-opening doubleheader against Quinnipiac.
DiTorrice went 2-0 on the week with seven strikeouts and a 1.00 ERA over 9.0 innings of action. He began his big week with three strikeouts over 4.0 innings of one-run ball in collecting the victory at LIU Brooklyn. DiTorrice then surrendered just an unearned score over 5.0 innings of three-hit ball with four strikeouts in a win at Canisius.
