Riverdale, NY - Junior Emily Sandford (Floral Park, NY / Sacred Heart) from the women's lacrosse team and sophomore Brendan Krebs (East Williston, NY / Chaminade) from the men's lacrosse team are the ATAX Student-Athletes of the Week for the period of Monday, March 18 to Sunday, March 24.
Sandford played a crucial role in the Jaspers' 15-10 victory over Canisius in the MAAC opener, notching five points on a career-high four assists and one goal. In Manhattan's 7-0 run to end the game, she scored the game-tying goal on a free position attempt to knot the score at 10, before assisting on the Jaspers' final three scores of the game. This season, Sandford has a career-best eight helpers and has recorded 12 points, including collecting a point in three of her last four contests.
Krebs turned in one of the top defensive performances in the MAAC this year, registering a career-high 17 saves against Marist with a sterling .739 save percentage. He began his big day with six first-period saves, before turning away six more shots in the second quarter. After halftime, Krebs made three saves in the third and two in the fourth while also collecting four ground balls. On the year, he is first in the MAAC with a .569 save percentage and second in GAA (10.0) and third in saves per game (13.2).
