Bronx, NY - More than 700 teams made it out to Van Cortlandt Park Saturday, October 11 for the 47th annual
Manhattan College Cross Country Invitational.
Founded by Ed Bowes '64, the invitational is the country's largest one-day meet and offers 40 races for high school and intermediate runners from around the country. This year, the meet also opened with the inaugural invitational expo, which included a panel discussion on collegiate running with some of the Metro area's greatest college coaches, as well as a pre-race pasta dinner with a keynote from U.S. Olympic silver medalist and Hoka OneOne runner Leo Manzano.
During the meet, Manhattan honored Bowes, who served as the invitational's director until stepping down a year ago. Shortly before the Girls Eastern State Championship, which is named in his honor, Bowes was presented with a replica of a new finish line plaque that declared the meet's final stretch "Ed Bowes Way."
You can find more information about the meet, including the 2019 results, on our
