Riverdale, NY - Freshman Vivian Donovan (Newport Beach, CA / Newport Harbor) of the volleyball team and freshman James Cotter (Wigan, England / Hawkley Hall) of the men's soccer team have been named the Manhattan College ATAX Student-Athletes of the Week for the period of September 17-September 23.
Donovan led the Jaspers in kills this past week with 17, while earning team-highs in kills against both Fairfield and Quinnipiac. She is also the team's kills leader in MAAC play at 19. Donovan earned a career-high 10.5 points against the Stags on Saturday, with seven kills and three service aces. She totaled five aces for the week, also a team high.
Cotter was the catalyst behind Manhattan's heroics in the 90th minute in the 1-0 upset of #25 Fordham on September 18. The freshman inserted the corner kick that led to junior Adrien Awana's goal with 36 seconds left in regulation. The assist was Cotter's first career point as a Jasper. Cotter has become a reliable option for Manhattan both off the bench and in the starting lineup, accruing over 400 minutes in eight games and appearing three times in the starting XI.
