Olave Named Head Strength & Conditioning Coach

Riverdale, NY – Manhattan College Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Marianne Reilly has announced the promotion of Michael Olave to Head Strength & Conditioning Coach. Olave, who has led the department over the last six months in an interim capacity, will oversee the strength & conditioning efforts for the athletic department.

"I'd like to thank Marianne (Reilly), Tony (Vecchione), Doug (Straley) and the rest of the administration for allowing me to have this opportunity," said Olave. "I am extremely excited to grow and develop this program and look forward to continuing to build relationships within the athletic department and the student-athlete population"

Prior to joining Manhattan, Olave served as the assistant strength & conditioning coach at Manhattanville College, where he was responsible for designing and implementing the annual strength & conditioning programs for the men's basketball, men's lacrosse, men's soccer and volleyball teams. He also directly assisted the head strength & conditioning coach with the men's hockey and baseball programs during his time with the Valiants.

"I am extremely excited for our student-athletes and coaches to have Mike joining our staff as the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach," said Straley. "He is passionate about his craft, detail orientated and has a tireless work ethic. Mike's expertise in injury prevention and performance development will be a valuable asset to our program."

Olave also spent one year as an intern at the United States Military Academy, where he worked primarily with the track & field and volleyball teams.

A 2014 graduate from Manhattan with a degree in exercise science, Olave is a certified strength & conditioning specialist through the National Strength & Conditioning Association.
