Riverdale, NY - Manhattan track and field's Ire Bozovicar (Potoki, Slovenia / Gimazija Jesenice) and Lisa Fajardo (Brooklyn, NY / Bishop Kearney) are the ATAX Student-Athletes of the Week for Monday, April 2 to Sunday, April 8.
Competing at Princeton's Sam Howell Invitational this past weekend, Bozovicar earned a first-place finish in the discus, hitting a personal best of 54.18 meters. The distance landed him in the top 50 NCAA Division I performances so far this year and qualified him for the IC4A Championships. Bozovicar was also named the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Male Field Performer of the Week.
Making her debut in the 10,000-meter race at the 2018 Colonial Relays, Fajardo set a school record, finishing in a time of 35:20.63. She bested the previous record (35:54.90) set by Edith Vilardi at the Penn Relays in 1986. Fajardo came in second in the race, and qualified for the ECAC Championships.
