One of the student-athletes that helped transform the baseball team into a northeast power and one of the starts on the Jaspers' historic NCAA Regional run in 2006, John Fitzpatrick joins the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame.
The only four-time All-MAAC selection in program history, Fitzpatrick graduated as the program's all-time leader in hits (216), doubles (57), home runs (35) and RBI (177).
As a senior in 2006, Fitzpatrick earned Second Team
Rawlings All-American honors and helped lead Manhattan to arguably the finest season in program history and one that is the benchmark for all league schools. Thanks to his production, the Jaspers collected to their first-ever MAAC Championship and a pair of wins during NCAA Regional play. In Manhattan's historic victory over No. 6 Nebraska, Fitzpatrick homered en route to being selected to the Lincoln Regional All-Tournament Team.
Thanks in large part to Fitzpatrick, the 2006 team also garnered inclusion to the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame in 2016.
Fitzpatrick announced his presence in Riverdale as a freshman in 2003, hitting .312 with 11 doubles, three home runs and 28 RBI and was named a
Louisville Slugger Freshman All-American. As a sophomore he rapped out 16 doubles and five home runs before registering 16 doubles and nine homers as a junior.
Following his junior campaign, Fitzpatrick earned New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL) All-Star honors and was the Home Run Derby champion while helping set the table for an outstanding senior season.
A local product from nearby Iona Prep, Fitzpatrick would go on to sign a professional contract with Pittsburgh and hit .250 with nine home runs and 33 RBI in one year with the Pirates' organization.
A three-time MAAC All-Academic Team selection, Fitzpatrick graduated with a degree in management and along with his wife Amanda are the proud parents of daughters Gianna and Camila.
