New York, NY - Manhattan's Director of Intercollegiate Athletics
Marianne Reilly served as a featured panelist for Fordham University's Women's Philanthropy Summit, held October 24 at the school's Lincoln Center campus.
Reilly's morning panel, entitled "A View from the Top: Perspectives from Successful Women," focused on how the panelists have all navigated both professional and personal obstacles to break into the upper echelons of their industries.
"I was honored to participate in this wonderful event focused on the professional and personal development of women," said Reilly, who was joined on her panel by JPMorgan Chase's Senior Diversity Adviser Patricia A. David, T. Dessa Glasser, a principal at Financial Risk Group, retired ConEd executive Mary Jane F. McCartney, and moderator Gilda Bonanno, an adviser to the Women's Business Development Council in Connecticut. "I've been lucky to benefit from so many mentors, both men and women, and I appreciate the opportunity to pay it forward in this way."
The all-day summit, in its second year, drew approximately 250 Fordham alumnae, students, and faculty members for a full slate of keynote addresses, forums and networking breaks. Keynote speakers included Harriet Edelman, vice chair of Emigrant Bank, Kirsten N. Swinth, associate professor of history at Fordham, and Anne L. Williams-Isom, CEO of Harlem's Children's Zone.
Several "Pioneering Women in Philanthropy" were also honored at the event, including ESPN Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer Christine Driessen, Dr. Eugenie F. Doyle, a retired professor of pediatrics and director of the Division of Pediatric Cardiology at New York University Medical Center, and international best-selling author Mary Higgins Clark.
Reilly's ties to Fordham span three decades. After serving as an assistant in recreation, facility management and club sports at the university, she was elevated to senior associate director of athletics in 1996 to accompany her responsibilities as the senior woman administrator for the Rams' athletic department.
Before embarking on her career in athletics, Reilly was a student-athlete on the Manhattan College women's basketball team, the school's first female scholarship player. She also holds the honor of being the first woman inducted into the Manhattan Athletics Hall of Fame.
