Saratoga, NY - Battling heavy wind, rain and cold temperatures, Manhattan took part in three races at the Head Of The Fish regatta before competition was halted at 11:30 am and the rest of the races canceled.
Despite the weather, the Jaspers were able to take part in the Varsity 8, Second Varsity 8 and the Freshmen/Novice 4.
Bolstered by the return of junior
Shannon Colford (Epping, NH / St. Thomas Aquinas), the First Varsity 8 raced to a time of 12:40 to defeat Vassar and Binghamton while finishing just behind Amherst, Middlebury and Colgate.
The Second Varsity 8 event saw a huge improvement this morning while also posting a time of 12:40 to close out Amherst and Trinity for the first time.
In the final race of the day, the Freshman/Novice 4 posted a mark of 16:02, finishing in the middle of the pack in an extremely difficult and competitive field.
This morning's race marks the last head racing format for the team this fall.
Manhattan will next compete in the Fall Metropolitan Championships on Saturday November 10 in New Rochelle, NY.
