The man who clinched Manhattan's first-ever MAAC Championship in 1992-93, and one of the players that helped resurrect a once-dormant program,
Chris Williams joins the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame.
Williams is entering the Hall of Fame this year as an individual after his aforementioned 1992-93 team was inducted into the Manhattan College Athletic Hall of Fame as part of the Class of 2017.
Williams led the Jaspers to 72 career wins while handing out 271 assists and scoring 792 points while operating as the team's primary point guard.
During his four years, Williams also helped lay the foundation for the culture of the program that has resulted in five MAAC Championships over the last 25 years.
As a senior, he averaged 7.0 points and a team-leading 3.8 assists per game while helping lead Manhattan to its first-ever MAAC Championship. In the title game against Niagara with the score and just 2.6 seconds remaining, Williams sank the game-winning free throw while propelling the Jaspers to the 1992-93 NCAA Tournament.
Williams' heroics came on the heels of his game-winning, coast-to-coast layup in the Jaspers' NIT victory over Rutgers.
The Philadelphia native averaged a career-high 8.9 points per game as a sophomore before sacrificing his scoring for the overall development of the team, which helped to fuel the Jaspers' 48 combined victories over his final two seasons.
For his career, Williams scored 792 points with 271 assists while making good on 38.2 percent from deep. He continues to be involved with Manhattan's Department of Intercollegiate Athletics, serving as the voice of the men's and women's basketball programs on the
Jasper Sports Network.
Williams graduated with a degree in communications, is a member of the Alumni Society and resides in Bayside, NY with his wife Leah.
