Former Manhattan Star Competes at European Team Championships

VAASA, Finland – Malin Marmbrandt, the Manhattan College women's track & field program record-holder in the long jump, was in action this weekend at the European Athletics Team Championships 1st League.  She represented her native Sweden in the triple jump at the biennial competition between European national teams.

After a foul on her first jump, Marmbrandt got out to a distance of 12.73 meters (41 feet, 9¼ inches) on her second attempt.  That would prove to be her best effort of the competition, which was good enough for seventh place and five team points.

This marked her second straight appearance at the European Team Championships.  She also took part in the 2015 edition, finishing 11th in the Super League, the highest level of the four-tiered competition.  Sweden, which was relegated to the 1st League for the 2017 event, won the team title with 320.5 points to earn promotion back to the Super League in 2019.

Marmbrandt has the best mark by a Swedish athlete in both the long jump and triple jump in 2017.
