RIVERDALE, N.Y. – Dr. Richard Satterlee, Manhattan College's Vice President for Student Life, was recently appointed to the NCAA's Division I Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee. Dr. Satterlee, who was chosen as a representative of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), will serve a three-year term that expires in September 2016.
The NCAA Division I Amateurism Fact-Finding Committee is involved in the process of determining a student-athlete's collegiate eligibility. The committee is responsible for establishing the facts related to the certification of a potential student-athlete's amateur status, at the request of an institution. Institutions can make such a request if there is a disagreement with the NCAA Eligibility Center's initial findings.
The NCAA Eligibility Center has been certifying the amateur status of prospective student-athletes since 2007. The Eligibility Center was created to ensure a centralized certification process that's consistent across Division I.
