Beamon, Wiekamp Named November Student-Athletes of the Month

RIVERDALE, N.Y. - Manhattan College seniors George Beamon (men's basketball) and Ellie Wiekamp are the November Student-Athletes of the Month.

Beamon had a terrific first six games of the season, helping the Jaspers to a 4-2 record during the month of November. Beamon averaged 23.3 points per game, including five straight games of 24 points or more to begin the 2013-14 season.

After a 24-point, eight-rebound effort in a season-opening win at La Salle, Beamon's heroics gave the Jaspers a thrilling 71-70 comeback victory at Columbia. Beamon's three-point play with 0.5 seconds left put the Jaspers ahead by a point and helped seal Manhattan's second straight victory to start the season. In Manhattan's next game, Beamon scored 34 points at home against George Washington, then followed that with 24 points and seven rebounds in a 79-70 win at Illinois State.

Wiekamp earned a place on the MAAC All-Tournament Team for her performance in the Jaspers' semifinal loss to Fairfield. She posted her 17th double-double of the season in the match, recording a team-high 17 kills to go along with 13 digs and two blocks.
