Boston, Mass. -- Preparing for the World Indoor Championships, Manhattan alum Aliann Pompey this past weekend posted one of the fastest times in the world this indoor season in the 400 meter dash. Taking first place in the 400m at the BU Valentine Invitational in Boston, she ran the race in 52.40 seconds. Pompey also took second in 200 meter dash at the meet, setting a new Guyanese record by posting a time of 23.69.
Pompey -- who still trains at Manhattan College with her coach Joe Ryan, the Manhattan assistant track and field coach and coach of the Guyana Track and Field national team -- is slated to take part in the IAAF World Indoor Track and Field Championships March 12-14 in Doha, Qatar.l
