RIVERDALE, N.Y. - The Manhattan Athletic Department has contributed $2,000 to the college-wide 'Jaspers for Haiti' initiative. Student-athletes, coaches and staff members have all donated funds to the collective effort, which provides support to our suffering neighbors in devastated Haiti.
"We are very proud of the positive response from our student-athletes, specifically the Student-Athlete Advisory Council (SAAC), who have generously donated their time and money in support of this worthwhile cause," explained Director of Athletics Robert Byrnes.
The College initiative was coordinated through the Office of Mission. A formal check presentation from the Athletic Department will be held at halftime of the men's basketball game versus Towson on Saturday, February 20 at 2 p.m.
Manhattan friends and fans can also make donations at the 'Jaspers for Haiti' webpage located at Manhattan.edu. All proceeds will be sent to Catholic Relief Services, the official overseas relief and development agency of the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, and to projects of De La Salle Christian Brothers in Haiti.
