Riverdale, N.Y. (September 4, 2007)- On Wednesday, September 5, the Manhattan College women's soccer team will play the first regular season Division I intercollegiate game at the newly refurbished Gaelic Park. The Manhattan College Department of Athletics will hold a ribbon cutting ceremony re-open the resurfaced field, and students will be eligible to win raffle prizes.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will begin at approximately 3:30 p.m. prior to the 4:00 p.m. match between the Lady Jaspers and the University at Albany Great Danes. All students, faculty, alumni, and fans are welcome to attend, and students are eligible to win exciting raffle prizes throughout the game, including Best Buy gift cards, Broadway Joe's gift certificates, an IPod, and more! Students will need to bring their student ID to receive their raffle tickets.
Gaelic Park is utilized by five varsity teams at Manhattan College; Women's Soccer, Men's Soccer, Women's Lacrosse, Men's Lacrosse, and Softball. The field now features a FieldTurf surface, as well as light stanchions which will allow for night competitions and practices.
