Riverdale, NY - Women's lacrosse junior Nikki Prestiano (Yorktown Heights, NY) and baseball sophomore T.J. Stuart (Milford, CT / Joseph A. Foran) have been named the Manhattan College ATAX Student-Athletes of the Week for the period of February 26 to March 5.
Prestiano was sharp in two games last week. Against Lafayette on Wednesday, February 28, the junior registered 12 saves, including nine in the first half, against 33 shots for her first double-digit output of the year. She followed that up with a monster effort on Saturday, March 3 against Vermont, where she nabbed a career-high 19 saves and allowed just seven goals in a win over the Catamounts. Prestiano ranks in the top five in the MAAC in goals-against average and saves per game.
Stuart had two impressive outings as the Jaspers picked up a series win over defending A-10 regular season champion VCU. On Friday, March 2, the right-handed pitcher earned his second career victory, tossing two shutout innings while striking out three. On Sunday, March 4, he collected his first career save, firing three perfect innings with two punch-outs. For the year, Stuart has a 2.08 ERA.
