Riverdale, NY – Manhattan Head Coach
Drew Kelleher has named Jack Runkel as an Assistant Coach for the upcoming season.
Runkel will be in charge of goaltenders along with serving as the Assistant Defensive Coordinator.
"I am thrilled to welcome Coach Runkel to the Manhattan Lacrosse Program," said Kelleher. "As a player and as a coach he has proven himself to be a winner. Not only will he be a great addition as a coach, but also a great mentor for our young men."
Runkel arrives in Riverdale after spending the last two seasons as an assistant at Yale University where he helped lead the Bulldogs to back-to-back Ivy League Championships. During his time at Yale, he oversaw the development and instruction of the goaltenders while also assisting the strength & conditioning staff in preparing practice plans for the team.
Over the last year, Runkel created and served as the Director of the BoneYard Lacrosse Club in New Haven, CT. In that time he has built rosters for six teams and had four players commit to Division I in the program's first three months.
Runkel began his collegiate coaching career at Georgetown, working with the Hoya goalkeepers during the 2015 season and oversaw the development of All Big East goalie Nick Marrocco.
No stranger to success on the playing field, Runkel served as the starting goalie for Loyola's 2012 NCAA Championship team and was named to the All-Tournament team during the Greyhounds' run to the to the title. As a senior in 2014, he was named a United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-American while earning Patriot League Goalkeeper of the Year honors.
