Edison, NJ - Sophomore goalkeeper
Marcellin Gohier (Pouance, France / CENS) was selected as the MAAC's Defensive Player of the Week for the week ending on October 1.
Gohier is the third Jasper to receive a MAAC weekly award, joining
Callum Carsley (Offensive Player of the Week 9/11-9/17) and
Brandon Joseph-Buadi (Rookie of the Week 9/11-9/17). He is the first Jasper to collect Defensive Player of the Week honors since fellow netminder George Ellis was honored on October 17, 2011.
Gohier anchored Manhattan's defense in net during the Jaspers' 2-0 week. In two games against Iona and Marist, he did not allow a single goal. He recorded 10 saves during the week, including a career-high 10 stops against the Red Foxes on Saturday. On the season, his .616 goals-against average and .875 save percentage are tops in the MAAC.
Manhattan aims for their third straight win on Wednesday, October 4 when they travel to Jersey City, NJ to battle Saint Peter's. Opening kick is tabbed for 3:00 pm.
